Super Easy Floating Candle Project
Monday, August 6, 2001

Supplies:

  • 1 pkg. of "Crystal Floating Candles" by Pepperell Braiding Co.
  • Any good quality of vegetable oil, I used Sunflower Oil.
  • Glass container of choice ( Do NOT use glassware with curved walls. You do not want the flame to touch the container's walls.)
(Caution: Never leave a burning candle unattended.)
Instructions:

1. Pour water into the bowl, fill 3/4 of the way full.

2. Gently pour vegetable oil and 1 drop of scent on top of the water.
3. Firmly insert the wick into the float, make sure that the wick is pushed to the bottom of the nipple. This is important, as it will insure the proper flame height.

4. Gently set the float on top of the oil.

5. Light and enjoy!

6. I tested this for about 2 hours in a regular juice glass at home, I burned very little oil and the glass never got warm. I used Sunflower oil.

7. NEVER use petroleum-based fuels.

8. As always read the complete instructions that come with the product before using.

9. I thought this was a neat way to make every day items into great décor pieces. The possibilities are endless!
Have fun, DAZ
