Monday, May 22, 2000

Supplies:
  1. Flowers of your choice, I used:
    1. 3 delphinium
    2. 5 fern leaf
    3. 2 white hydrangea
    4. 3 bachelor buttons
    5. 6 small snowball
    6. 3 mini wine roses
    7. 1 purple hydrangea
    8. 3 white roses
  2. 3 ivy vines 18-24"
  3. 3 yards white sheer wire ribbon
  4. 5 yards white tulle
  5. 2 yards #9 satin ribbon for handle
  6. floral tape
  7. wire cutters
  8. glue gun or pearl head pins
  9. floral wire
Instructions:

1. We want the whole bouquet to be made up of 3-4 main stems, so we need to build clusters of flowers. This is done the same way as the previous projects, except you want to use a long "support " stem in each cluster.

2. I build from the back layer forward. In other words the longer stems to the shorter stems. Make each cluster up from 4-5 flower heads and greenery. Use the same wiring and taping method as before. You want to cut down on the bulk of the items. Lay the bouquet in your arms as you build so you can make sure it feels comfortable to carry. After you have made the clusters, gather them together and tape. Make bow from sheer ribbon and tulle, tape into bouquet at the base.

3. Wrap the entire stem with white satin ribbon. Secure ribbon with glue or pearl topped boutonniere pins. I think that the pins give a more polished look. Be sure that none of the pin points are exposed. Push them in the same direction that the stems are running.
